My Crisalida residency – by Olga Loya

26 Nov My Crisalida residency – by Olga Loya

I would like to thank David Gonzalez, the Crisalida Community Arts Project and the McCullam Theatre for inviting me to visit the Eastern Coachella Valley from November 16 to November 20 to tell stories.  David and Moises Huerta did a wonderful job of putting together a series of performance programs.  I especially liked the experience  because I was invited to tell to many different types of audiences.  I told to a Third grade class, two six grade groups, two performances at Amistad High School, and the Indio Senior Center (I performed and also did a two hour workshop there).  I also told at the East Vally Repertory Theatre Company at College of the Desert,  at the Indio Teen Center, and at a graduation of a poetry group.  It was wonderful meeting all these different audiences.
I feel that both David and Moises prepared the different groups very well and that it made it much easier for me to come and tell stories.  I also appreciate how well they made sure I knew where to go and who my contacts were.  It was one of my best experiences in a residency.
